paddle-power.com - Travel Info and Kayak Rental
Have you ever thought of coming to New
Zealand for a holiday?? There are some pretty awesome rivers in this country, for all
skill levels from beginner to advanced to expert paddler.
Numerous possibilities exist in the North
Island (classics like the Kaituna near Rotorua and the Wairoa near Tauranga; or a class 3
multi-day trip on the Motu), and even more in the South Island.
The South Island is home of new Zealand's
unique Heli Kayaking. Along the West Coast of the South Island are many rivers in
inaccessible valleys and gorges and the only way to get there is by foot or helicorpter.
Helicopters are very affordable to hire in New Zealand (between NZ$75.00 and NZ$130.00 per
head, depending on the length of the river and/or the flying distance to the take-out) and
over the last years have become the ultimate shuttle vehicle. For more information about
New Zealand rivers there is an excellent guide book available (follow this link to the
book page), or if you like
send us an email.
Travelling to New Zealand with a kayak can
become a bit of a mission, not just because of the long trip and the excess gear you will
have to drag around airports, but also because of airlines often charging large amounts of
money to transport kayaks.
During the peak season we can offer you most
Eskimo Kayaks and
a limited number of Riot Kayaks and Robson Kayaks for rental, saving you
all the hassles of travelling with a boat. Our hire rates are listed below and are for one
whitewater kayak including airbags. Should you require more equipment (spraydeck,
accessories, paddle, etc.) let us know and we can arrange this for a nominal extra charge. |
