Looner is a
small company that has been developed over the past years by
Deb Pinniger, World Freestyle Kayak Champion, and Ingrid
Schlott, German paddler and ski fanatic.
Deb first began Looner in 1999 at the World Freestyle
Championships in New Zealand. After travelling the world for
a few years, Deb decided to make a few extra dollars by
selling wooden kayak pendants that she had made for her on
the banks of the Zambezi River, whilst training for the
World's.
Looner has moved on a little from there with products now
being sold all over the globe. However, our ethos remains
the same - Deb still travels the globe with her kayak,
searching for that perfect wave and talking her way out of
excess baggage charges, whilst Ingrid searches winter long
for that perfect powder day.
Looner operates a fair trade policy, believing that we
should put something back in to the communities that we take
from. So 2002 will see the first year of Looner supporting a
local school in Livingstone Zambia, with a donation of our
profits going back into the local community's education. I
hope that this is the start of a company that can see beyond
just our own interests.
See you on the water, enjoy the ride!
